Egypt's chemical imports from Saudi reach EGP 3bn in 5 months

Cairo - Mubasher: Egypt's imports of chemical products and fertilizers declined by 58.7% to EGP 23.62 billion in the first five months of 2015, compared with EGP 57.21 billion for the same period of the previous year.

Saudi Arabia accounted for 12.7% of Egypt's chemical imports, with value totaling EGP 3.008 billion within the five-month period from January to May 2015, according to a recent report compiled by the General Organization for Export and Import Control.

Meanwhile, the Kingdom controlled 2.3% of Egypt's total imports in first months of 2015, as Egypt received Saudi products worth EGP 4.4 billion compared with EGP 11.9 billion for the similar period of the previous year down by 62.8%.

The chemical and fertilizer products topped the Kingdom imports to Egypt with total value amounts to EGP 3.008 billion, compared with EGP 8.71 billion for the same period of 2014, down by 65%.

Engineering and electronic commodities came in second place as they registered EGP 436 million, a decline of 40.9% from EGP 738 million for the same period a year earlier.
